Before I came to Canada, I thought Canada is similar to China; however, there are many differences between Canada and China. First of all, the most important difference is that emotional expression. Most of Canadian people are outgoing while Chinese people are Introvert. Canadian people always greet with each other besides strange people who they meet first time. Moreover, Canadian people think that polite is very important even between Canadian parents and children or strange people. When others give them anything or before they leave, they always do some courtesy expressions such as saying “Thank you”, “Have a good day”. Thus, Canadian people are very polite to do everything. Nevertheless, most of Chinese people never do these kinds of things. They seldom say hello to a new person unless the new person is introduced to them. The second important difference is that the food between the two countries is also different. Canadian people like roast food and fresh vegetable salad. Their breakfast and lunch are simple. Almost students have sandwiches and hamburger for their lunch. Chinese are good at cooking all kinds of yummy food. The methods of cooking are different. I think if you go to China, you’ll like Chinese food. The third important difference is family life. Canadians like to pursue freedom in their family life. Children are also more likely to select independence when they are 18 or 19 years old. On the other hand, the Chinese think that family members should unite together. Parents in China always worry about the future of their children. They want do get everything ready for their children. The fourth difference is the way of medical system. In Canada, no one needs to worry about his health problem. If someone is ill, he or she can go to the hospital to treat it till cure without payment. So no one needs to save money for his illness. But in China, people should pay the fee and then the doctor will treat you. And, the fee is very expensive. The last important difference is the study way of education. In Canada, teachers in the classroom not only want to teach their students the knowledge, but they will also focus on the training of the students' abilities. Students in Canada have many chances to give presentations in public or express their ideas in discussions. Unlike Canada, a teacher in China focuses on teaching. As a teacher, he or she is always serious and authoritative when disciplining the students. A class in China is quieter because, most of the time, only the teacher is speaking. To sum up, the way living in Canada or the way living in China are totally different because of different culture.
